Welcome to my blog!

Hello, my name is Karina and I feel passionately about the welfare of all living beings and our amazing planet. Since this is my 1st entry on this blog, I want to share with you general thoughts of what I want to accomplish. The main purpose of this blog is to share my quest or journey or Tao of leading a compassionate life – not only for human beings but for all the beings who share this earth with us.

I very much realize that our society’s long and deeply-held cultural believe say it’s okay to treat animals badly, kill them and use them for food and other purposes to suit our needs. My journey has taken me to the conclusion that these believes are based on myths no more valid than the tooth fairy. In future blogs, I will share with you these myths, what I’ve learned in my journey so far, and why these myths are so wrong.

There are very strong ethical, health and environmental reasons why we should not be killing our fellow earth beings. Together, these reasons make a very compelling case.

I feel that someday, human beings will look surprised and shocked at our present age and wonder “What was in their heads?” “What were they thinking?” “Why did they have no compassion for the other beings on this planet?” … And finally “Why do they treat our home so badly?”

I sincerely hope that one day, in a billion homes on this planet, billions of our children’s children will ask “Grandma, did people really eat animals? … And grandma will say “Yes, but those days are, thankfully, long, long gone.”

I’m asking you to join me on this Tao: On my blog, I will have commentaries, links, feedback from you, vegan recipes, animal rights announcements….anything that will help us, as compassionate travelers on this planet, to make this vision a reality. Stay tuned!

Tyson Foods Employees in Critical Condition

Kirschner's Korner

Four workers at a Tyson Foods’ farm animal processing plant in Iowa were hospitalized with burns to their head, face, and torso today following an accident on the job. Two of the workers are in critical condition and were flown by helicopter to an emergency burn unit. Tyson Foods officials stated they’re investigating the incident, according to KCCI Des Moines.

This is nothing new. Tyson has a long and gruesome history of workplace accidents and has earned its reputation as a dangerous place to work. Despite Tyson’s pledge to create an accident-free workplace for their employees, horrific working conditions and injuries continue to affect their workers.

The Tyson business model is simple: Animals suffer, workers suffer, consumers suffer, and the planet suffers. People need to know that when they buy food from animal agriculture companies, they’re contributing to it. No amount of cognitive dissonance can change that reality…
